Mid-Century French Ceramic Vase by Jacques Pouchain / Atelier Dieulefit (circa 1960s)
SKU 0813
Mid-century ceramic vase by Jacques Pouchain / Atelier Dieulefit (circa 1960s). A mason's jar-shaped vase is unusual for the ceramicist in its mostly white surface. Pouchain's signature cloudy glaze has been replaced in this piece by a chalky-white, smooth glaze with lustrous finish. In its simplicity comes its elegance. Graceful and light-hearted to behold. In very good vintage condition commensurate with age. Stamped: 'L'Atelier Dieulefit'. Upon request a video of the piece will be provided.
About the Artist: Jacques Pouchain (1925 - 2005) left Paris and gave up his architectural training in the 1950s for the South of France to devote himself to art and his pottery studio at Dieulefit. He produced highly personal work and more commercial pieces as well both revealing a modern approach to pottery. Pouchain's ceramics have an international following and have been sold through the major auction houses.
