Small French ceramic jar with rooster / coq motif by Gustave Reynaud (c. 1950s). Delightfully rustic in earthenware with decor of a French rooster and stylised branches on the opposite side of the vessel. The rooster is a faded mulberry red with sage green feathers. In fair vintage condition commensurate with its age and usage. Please note the chip on the lip of the piece. Maker's mark flower logo on underside. To best appreciate the aesthetics and condition of the vase, please view all accompanying photos. 

About the Artist: Gustave Reynaud (1915-1972) founded the pottery, Le Mûrier (Mulberry Tree), in Vallauris, France in 1955. He produced earthenware designed in conjunction with his well known brother-in-law, Jean Derval, as well as vases, wall plaques and anthropomorphic jugs. He also worked with the potter JF Descombes and decorator Michel Barbier in their well known village. After Reynaud's death in 1972 his wife ran the pottery until 1984.
