An off-white / green glazed French ceramic flower vase (c. 1950s) by Jacques Blin. The vase is a muted white colour with verdigris highlights. The whimsical decorations present animals and plant life that are wonderfully naive or 'primitive'. On the top is a mouth-like spout surrounded by flower holes making this a very original piece in a much sought-after style. In good vintage condition commensurate with age. Please view the many accompanying photos to appreciate and assess the piece's aesthetics and condition. Signed on the underside: 'J. Blin'. Upon request a video clip can be provided.

About the Artist: Jacques Blin (1920 - 1995) gave up a career in engineering for his love of the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently depicted fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures and abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J. Blin".
