Mid-Century Decorative Bowl by Jacques Pouchain - Atelier Dieulefit (circa 1970s)
SKU 0707
Mid-century decorative bowl (circa 1970s) by Jacques Pouchain - Atelier Dieulefit. This simple but elegant dish is decorated with a Picasso-like dove, the symbol of peace. The bowl's glazed face is a chalky white with brush strokes of blue-grey, some thick and others as simple lines. The exterior is similarly coloured with lines and strokes which coil around the piece punctuated with a drip motif. In good vintage condition with some characterful markings commensurate with its age and use. Signed: 'Atelier Dieulefit'. Upon request a video of the piece will be provided.
About the Artist: Jacques Pouchain (1925 - 2005) left Paris and gave up his architectural training in the 1950s for the South of France to devote himself to art and his pottery studio at Dieulefit. He produced highly personal work and more commercial pieces as well both revealing a modern approach to pottery.
