'Marselis' vase designed by Nils Thorsson for Aluminia - Royal Copenhagen (circa 1960s). A subtle square repeating pattern appears as the motif on a delicate beige and yellow teardrop-shaped flower vase. It is elegant with a light touch and very tactile as well. In excellent vintage condition commensurate with age. On the base appears: 'Marselis / Denmark' with production number 2631 and monogram of Nils Thorsson. About the Designer: Nils Johan Thorvald Thorsson (1898 -1975) was a Swedish-Danish ceramist, silversmith, painter and cartoonist. In 1917 Thorsson graduated from the Royal Danish Academy. He excelled as a designer and went onto become Aluminia Factory's Artistic Director in 1928, a post which he held for forty one years! Thorsson was the factory's most prolific designer with a keen eye for talent. When Aluminia purchased Royal Copenhagen in 1949, Thorsson took over there as well as Artistic Director, leading a team of ultra-talented designers.
