Ask a Question

'Lovers' by unknown artist, oil on board (circa 1940s - 1960s). Clearly inspired by the pre and post WWII cubist movement, this painting portrays a man and woman in a complicated pose which is perhaps, an allusion to the nature of their relationship. The angles, curves and colours fuse to form the distinctive whole which is beautiful and compelling. From the 'School of Berlin' this unique artwork is in very good vintage condition in new frame with gild surround. Unsigned. Upon request a video of the piece will be provided.

Our gallery has access to a cache of paintings from Berlin in the 1940s - 1960s. What we know of these artworks is derived from our source from whom we've obtained this piece along with several others. Regrettably the artwork is unsigned and is therefore impossible to deduce anything about the artist's background or aspirations. What we do know is this work is beautifully compelling and so modern given the era in which it was created.
