'Lost in the Shadows' by STM (circa 1940s - 1960s)

'Lost in the Shadows', oil on board, by STM (circa 1940s - 1960s). The artist with initials STM never fails to disappoint. In this painting the artist depicts two nudes with shadowed faces along with the angles, curves and jagged shards that appear in their cubist portraits. Like other STM works, it is executed in the subtle spectrum of earth tones. Visual harmony and balance are the trademark of this wonderful artist.
About the Artist: Our gallery has access to a cache of paintings from Berlin in the 1940s - 1960s. What we know of STM is derived from our source from whom we've obtained this artwork along with several others. The artist who used the initials, STM, ostensibly lived in Berlin in the period after WWII. This explains the use of initials rather than a full signature as this form of work was considered unorthodox and not authorised under the tenets of socialist realism. Having said that, several galleries have acquired and are now selling STM's works - this speaks to the widespread assessment of the quality and interest of the art. The artwork is in good vintage condition in a new frame with linen slip. Signed: 'STM' in lower righthand corner. Upon request, a short video clip of the piece may be provided.
