0422
Decorative long-necked earthenware liqueur bottle with handle (c. 1950s) by Jacques Blin (1920 - 1995). This elegant, swan-shaped earthenware piece (can be used as a single flower vase) is visually striking and very tactile. With the signature Blin cloudy glaze and sgraffito motif, this piece constitutes a superb example of Blin's artistry and technique making this eminently collectible. In excellent vintage condition. Signed on base: 'J. Blin'.
About the Artist: An engineer by trade but with a love for the visual arts and an immediately recognisable style. Blin has a way of working characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently used fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures and whimsical abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J Blin".
