Jacques Pouchain Serving Platter and Small Plate Set (c. 1950s)
0316
Jacques Pouchain (1925 - 2005) left Paris and gave up his architectural training in the 1950s for the South of France to devote himself to art and his pottery studio at Dieulefit. He produced highly personal work and more commercial pieces as well both revealing a modern approach to pottery. This large rectangular serving platter (c. 1950s) with large stylised bird - perhaps a lovely dove - is a significant and more personal piece by Pouchain. Signed 'J.P. and Atelier Dieulefit'. The smaller hors d'oeuvres plates are each etched with a unique bird perfectly complementing the larger piece. Trademark 'Atelier Dieulefit' as depicted. All presented in excellent vintage condition.
