'Haut Provence' by Wilhelm Goliasch (1982)

'Haut Provence', oil on board (1982), by Wilhelm Goliasch (1922 - 1986). The Northern regions of Provence form part of an historic heartland - an area of fortified villages, fruit orchards irrigated by the Rhône and Durance rivers - but it is also an arid region. Many of the smaller rivers and gorges have dried up by summer, but there are many lakes, rivers and pools for refreshing dips. This landscape combines beautifully inviting colours of green, blue, yellow and ochre. In original frame with linen mount and signed by the artist in the lower left corner. Very good vintage condition. A short video clip of this work can be provided upon request.
About the Artist: William Goliasch (1922 - 1986), Swiss/French painter of still-lifes, portraits and landscapes. Influenced by the school of Paris painters such as Claude Venard and Bernard Buffet.
