German Mid-Century Decorative Plate by Silberdistel (c. 1960s)
Very attractive ceramic plate thought to be by Silberdistel. Founded in 1947 by Johann and Grete Breu in Gevelsberg, Silberdistel takes its name from a kind of silver thistle which grows in the Alps in Austria and Switzerland. The factory remained a small studio pottery even during the rapid expansion of the ceramics industry in Germany during the 1950s and 1960s. This plate in excellent vintage condition.
