'Flowered Woman in Robe' by Unknown Artist (circa 1940s - 1950s)
0124
'Flowered Woman in Robe', oil on board, by unknown artist with initials F.O.R. (circa 1940s - 1950s). This is a portrait of seated woman in a suggestively open robe but staring demurely back at the viewer. Since the artist remains unknown and no title was written on the back of the painting, one is left to speculate about the subject. Is it a geisha? Was it a subject inspired by Frieda Kahlo? In any case, it is an intimate portrait, compelling in its own right and beautifully portrayed. Only the artist knows for certain. We do know this artist lived in Berlin in the period after WWII. In very good vintage condition - newly framed with linen slip. Initialed: 'F.O.R.' in the lower right hand corner. Upon request, a video clip of this work may be provided for context.
