'Flowered Lady' by M J d'Ayzé (1925)
A beautifully charming painting of a flowered lady discovered in the South of France. Painted in the 1920s, it was a 'coup de coeur', or love at first sight. Somewhat naïve - and that is its charm - it is oils painted on hard board with still-vibrant colours and in excellent vintage condition commensurate with its age. The work is in a grand scale - the frame is simple but elegant hard wood, weighty, and in good condition.
The painting is signed and dated in the lower right hand corner: 'M. j d'Ayzé'
A label (as seen in accompanying photos) is affixed to the rear of the frame indicating the artist had two paintings submitted for exhibition. It appears either to be the artist's address or the address of the gallery at that time: << 48 Blvd. des Batignolles >> in the 17th Arrondissement of Paris. Completely fascinating and adds to the charm and mystery of this painting.
