Decorative Ceramic Vase by Jacques Blin (circa 1950s) - Small
SKU 0671
This simply elegant small vase (c. 1950s) is burnt orange in colour with a sumptuous glaze. Its strength is in its shape which is luxuriously rounded at the base and has a cylindrical neck leading to the mouth. It is sensuous to the touch and mesmerisingly visual. Unusually for Blin, there are no sgraffito figures etched into the sides and it is this beautiful simplicity which makes this petite vase so attractive. In good vintage condition. Signed on the underside: 'Blin'. This is ideal for Jacques Blin collectors and for those who love mid-century French artisans from Vallauris and beyond. Upon request a video of the work will be provided.
About the Artist: Jacques Blin (1920-1995) who was an engineer by trade but with a love for the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently depicted fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures and whimsical abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J. Blin". A comprehensive book of the works of Jacques Blin has recently been released in both French and English: 'Jacques Blin, Ceramiste & Porteur d'Histoires' by Christine Lavenu.
