Ask a Question

A cubist nude portrait of a seated woman, in gouache on fine art paper (circa 1950s), by artist Kosta Stojanovitch. This work is one in a series of several images this gallery has on hand. Here, an elegant woman lounges cross-legged, looking away from the artist in the pose. As in other cubist works, the body's lines and contours are rendered in collage-style layers with angles defined by vibrant colours which add resonance to the work. Although the art is executed naïvely, it surely must have seemed very avant-garde in its day. This piece has been reframed and glazed and is in very good condition. The piece is unsigned but acquired with several other Stojanovitch's artworks discovered in the South of France. There are several photos accompanying this listing. Upon request, a brief video may be provided.
