Ceramic Table Lamp by Colette Houtmann at Lune Vague (circa 1980s)
0199
Ceramic table lamp by Lune Vague (circa 1980s). Sensuous vase-shaped ceramic table lamp inspired by Japanese works. A subtle egg-white base colour is brought to life by an earth-brown coloured design in the lower segment. It appears as a view to the horizon with mountainous elevations and a hazy sky. Stunning. In very good condition commensurate with age. Signed on the bottom: 'Lune Vague'. Upon request a video clip may be provided of the piece. The lamp is currently wired for UK use.
About the Artist: Born and raised in the Burgundy region of France, Colette Houtmann, with her Dutch-origin name, views herself as a citizen of the world. After a stint as a painter, Ms. Houtmann chose to change direction to work creating ceramics. After a brief period interning in Uzès in the South of France, she settled back in the Burgundy region opening up her 'La Main' gallery to exhibit her works. Later Colette re-named it 'Atelier de la Lune Vague' after the Japanese film, 'Ugetsu Monogatari', or in English, 'Tales of Moonlight and Rain', which provided inspiration for her works. In 2010, she moved her workshop to Tournus. Today Houtmann favours creative artistic works rather than utilitarian. Her efforts are recognised in the region with shows and exhibitions.
