Burgundy Harvest Table 'Table de Vigneron' (c. 1850s)
The Reconditioned French Table de Vigneron, or winemaker's table, from the Burgundy region of France, circa 1850s. These tables were used in the many wine growing regions of France and were particularly useful at harvest time because their tilt-top feature allowed them to be easily ported to the fields. As they do so well, the harvesters and vignerons could sit down for a lunch break à la française amongst the rows of vines in late summer or early autumn. These are very traditional and authentic pieces of French winemaking heritage and would be a wonderful addition to a wine lover's home or perfect as a veritable tasting table in your home wine cellar. This table's top was replaced in the 1960's with an oak piece however, the underlying structure and legs belong to the mid-18th century and are probably of poplar and fruitwood.
