'Autumn in Provence' by Yvette Bonte (1925 - ) gouache on fine paper (c. 1960s). An autumnal view of Provence in the south of France inspired by the region's famous luminosity. Mountains in the distance are covered by a blustery blue Mistral sky - harvest is over and the hills and fields are changing colour. This composition works on many levels. What appears effortless and beautiful at first glance is actually complex and layered compelling the viewer to grasp the wonders of nature. Original frame, new mount and new glass. Signed: 'Y. Bonte' in the lower righthand corner. In excellent vintage condition. A short video clip of this work can be provided upon request.
