Vintage stoneware vase by Raymonde Leduc (circa 1960s-70s). A light sandstone coloured vessel with plant motifs - the artist's specialty - inlaid throughout the body. She was a student of the well known master ceramicist, Roger Capron. In good overall condition. Underside covered in felt. Signed near the base by Leduc. About the Artist: Raymonde Leduc (1929-2009) was a French ceramicist born Raymonde Claire Micheline Giraud, daughter of the Vallauris potter, Louis Giraud. She trained under Roger Capron and worked at the Cerenne studio and later the Tout Carrelage factory in Vallauris until its closure in 1984. Working under her married name, she developed a distinctive botanical inlay technique — pressing fresh garrigue plants directly into unfired clay — producing her celebrated Les Herbiers and Garrigue series of vessels and tile-topped furniture. As a student of Roger Capron of Vallauris who used the same plant-inlay technique, it is clear that Leduc both learned the method from him and developed it into a practice entirely her own — one that was more botanically precise and more directly rooted in the specific landscape of Provence than Capron's more stylised approach.
