About the Artist: Michel Barbier (1933-2012), was ceramic decorator in Vallauris, France, for Gustave Reynaud's Le Mûrier, along with Jean Derval, Reynaud's brother-in-law who designed production models. Barbier's pieces sported stylised birds and foliage which were the most common themes both for utilitarian and for exhibition pieces in which abstract motifs were also employed.
