Mid-Century Italian uplighter (circa 1950s) attributed to Stilnovo. An exceptional example of celebrated 1950s Italian design aesthetics, you can add vintage chic to your home or workplace with this very characterful uplighter. The metallic lighting cone is green at the top with a brass-covered lower portion and brass-covered base with original plastic light switch. The cone can be adjusted easily to a wide range of positions. It is in fair vintage condition with significant blemishing on the brass and green pieces. There are marks, nicks, scratches and some dents covering the lamp. It simply adds to its vintage character and attests to its long and interesting life. Please see all of the accompanying photos as they form part of the description and accurately represent its condition. Upon request a video of the piece will be provided. The lamp has been rewired for UK use and inspected by a certified electrician.
Background Information: In the 1950s, the first decade of mass television adoption, there was a common belief that watching TV in low light could damage one's eyesight. But early televisions, with their dull luminescence, were best viewed in the dark. So the TV lamp was invented to add a little light to the room and dispel people’s fears. This type of light was often used to increase lighting in home television rooms; the circle on the cone with 'tv' inscribed leaves no doubt about its purpose.
