About the Artist:  Georges Pelletier was born in Brussels, Belgium in 1938. He started his training at the Academy Charpentier in Paris (School of Arts and Crafts) in the building which is now the Picasso Museum. After that period, Pelletier worked at the Atelier Claude Pantzer, the renowned Accolay pottery. In 1961 the artist opened his own studio in Paris where he created his first unique pieces. His work was noted by the Bobois furniture house for his evident creativity and talent and was subsequently asked to supply Roche Bobois with their lighting collections between 1961 and 1973. In 1973 Pelletier followed the sun to the South of France in the city of Cannes where he set up a new workshop where he is still active today. La Roue opened in 1962 and was run by Alexandre (1935-2018) and Betty Fadas. La Roue was an outlet which sold ceramics in the town of Vallauris. Its wares were made by various potters and artisans in the area amongst whom were by Robert Picault and Georges Pelletier.  There were a number of other contributors, many of whom sold work unsigned by themselves but with the La Roue stamp.
