Ceramic vase (circa 1950s) by Jacques Blin. This small-scale vase with wide mouth displays animal motif with Blin's signature misty glaze as the backdrop. There are fanciful birds and stylised bulls all seemingly from a prehistoric cave wall. It is compact, weighty, stable and all at once elegant. This original ceramic piece is in excellent vintage condition commensurate with its age and is a superb example of Blin's artistry and technique making this eminently collectible. Signed: 'J. Blin'.

About the Artist: Jacques Blin (1920 - 1995) gave up a career in engineering for his love of the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently depicted fanciful birds and animals, stylised figures and abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J. Blin".
