'Still Life with Guitar, Book, Pipe and Bottle', oil on board (circa 1940s), by artist with the initials J.G. Another stunning cubist still life representation from J.G. This particular work depicts a guitar and other items from daily life from our collection of artists from the School of Berlin. Upon first glance, the viewer may be left with the impression that it was executed in monochrome. However, there are subtle earth tones as well which are woven in with the black, grey and near-white hues. Like J.G.'s other works we have offered for sale, this very attractive piece was surely inspired by Georges Braque's (1882 - 1963) cubist style. Unfortunately nothing is known of this artist with the initials J.G., other than they lived in Berlin in the period after WWII. In very good vintage condition - newly framed with linen slip. Initialed: 'J.G.'. Upon request, a video of this work may be provided.
