'Seated Abstract Figure', oil on board, by J.G. (circa 1940s - 1960s). This artwork depicts a seated figure consisting of bold lines, geometric shapes and muted hues. The flat planes of colour and complex puzzle-like compositions echo the arrangements of cutout paper with which the style originated, and here, pay homage to well known works of Picasso, Braque and Matisse. The artwork is in good vintage condition commensurate with age showing some slight fading and very minor blemishing on the painted surface. Initialed 'J.G.' in the lower righthand corner. It is newly framed with an elegant linen slip. Upon request, a short video of the work may be provided.
