A rare glazed ceramic coffee table by Gustave Reynaud, atelier Le Mûrier, Vallauris (circa 1950s-60s). The tabletop is composed of hand-painted tiles depicting a charming Provençal scene: a bell tower and village architecture flanked by stylised trees, foliage, and Reynaud's iconic French coq in Le Mûrier's characteristic muted palette of mulberry red, sage green, and soft blue against a warm oatmeal background. The tiled top is set within a sculptural wrought iron base, with elegant curved legs joined by a twisted stretcher bar. This piece is brimming with character, and remains the only table by this atelier the gallery has encountered to date. In good overall condition. About the Artist: Gustave Reynaud (1915-1972) founded the pottery, Le Mûrier (Mulberry Tree), in Vallauris, France in 1955. He produced earthenware designed in conjunction with his well known brother-in-law, Jean Derval, as well as vases, wall plaques and anthropomorphic jugs. He also worked with the potter JF Descombes and decorator Michel Barbier in their well known village. After Reynaud's death in 1972 his wife ran the pottery until 1984.
