‘The Pont Marie and Bateau Mouche’ in Paris, watercolour on art paper, by Roland Hamon (1971). The artist combines two icons of Paris in this depiction on a beautiful blue summer day. The Pont Marie is one of the oldest bridges in Paris that dates back to the 17th Century and was constructed to join the Île Saint-Louis to the right bank of the River Seine and was named after its designer. Of course, many renowned buildings are on the Seine, delighting visitors who can see the history of the city unfolding along the banks of the river. Certainly the mention of a cruise on the Seine conjures up images of the bateaux-mouches, or fly-boats. Each day the bateaux-mouches navigate under the Pont Marie to the delight of their passengers. Hamon's depiction of this is filled with simple charm and invites lovers of Paris to hang this piece on their wall at home or at work. The painting is in good overall condition and is newly framed with anti-reflective glass. It is signed by the artist in the lower right hand. On the reverse of the painting (see the photos), the artist wrote: "La Seine vu de l'Ile St Louis" ("Paris - The Seine river viewed from the Isle St. Louis 1971" (and his signature)). Please enjoy the many photos accompanying the listing. Upon request a video will be provided.
