'Still Life with Bouquet of Flowers', oil on board (1970), by Lilian Whitteker. This impressionist bouquet of mixed flowers churns with colour, elegantly posed on a table in a goblet-shaped vase. The background is a mist of subtle hues. This is a still life which is filled with the movement of colour. Dated 1970 and signed: 'Lilian Whitteker '70' in the lower right hand. It is in very good overall condition and is newly framed. It was very recently cleaned and reconditioned by an art restoration specialist. Please enjoy the many images accompanying the listing. About the Artist: Lilian E. Whitteker (1881-1979) began her art career in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. She was a member of the Cincinnati Women's Art Club and spent most of her time painting landscapes, still-lifes, and flowers. She moved to France in the mid-1920's where she remained the rest of her life. Following the death of her partner in 1965, Whitteker moved to a castle - the Chateau de la Bourdaisiere, built in the 1500s in the Loire Valley. Here she died in 1979. A street in Tours, France, "Allee Lilian Whitteker" (see photo) was named after her.
