'Grand Prix Racer', French School, oil on board (circa 1960s). The 'good ole' days' of Formula One racing are depicted in this thrilling mid-century oil painting. This racing car is most likely an Alfa Romeo, Type 159, just like the one that was driven in the Championships in 1951 by Argentine, Juan Manuel Fangio. Formula 1 was the premier single seater racing category in worldwide motorsport having started in 1947. This new 'International Formula' was initially known variously as Formula A or Formula 1. You can have this piece of motorsport history in your home or office. In fair vintage condition commensurate with age. Newly framed with linen slip. Signed but illegible (may be Louis Petit). Upon request a video of the artwork will be provided.
