An offset lithograph Galerie de Cannes exhibition poster to advertise an exhibition of original lithographs by Picasso, Braque, Chagall and Miró, printed by Devaye Imprimeurs, Cannes, France, 1960. The image on the poster is of a lithograph entitled 'L'Atelier' (the work studio), by Pablo Picasso painted in Cannes in 1956. This may very likely be one of the lithographs on display at the exhibit. An exceptional poster for an exhibition of four of the major artists of the twentieth-century. This exhibition would have taken place in the last decade of these artist's lives, after they'd achieved a great deal of fame. The poster was produced by Devaye Printers who were established in 1928 in Cannes. A pencil signature appears on the poster as well as the one in the plate. This signature has uncertain origins but was present upon acquisition of the poster by this gallery. The poster is in good overall condition. It is newly framed and glazed with non-reflective glass. Upon request a video may be provided.

Note: Offset lithography involves transferring an image onto an intermediate surface before printing it onto the final sheet, (rather than printing the image directly from plate onto paper as is the case with most printmaking techniques). In doing so the image is twice reversed and appears the same way round as on the original design on stone or plate.
