French ceramic decorative bowl / vide-poche by the Frères Cloutier (circa 1970s). A charming decorative yet utilitarian bowl created in the trademark pink and blue colours of the Cloutiers. It is immediately identifiable as theirs. With its subtle hues it may be placed anywhere in your home or workplace. It is in very good overall condition. Please note the diminutive size of the piece. Maker's mark on the underside.
About the Designers: Jean and Robert Cloutier are called the twin brothers of ceramics. After having apprenticed for Lafourcade, Rivière, Georges Jouve and Pol Chambost, the brothers created their own workshop located in Paris in 1955. They produced both functional and dreamlike decorative objects. After Paris and a brief interlude in the town of Yonne, France, the Cloutiers put down roots in the Languedoc region of southern France. Forever refining their ceramic processes, they are considered to have perfectly mastered their profession and are held in the highest esteem.
