'Nude Viewed from the Back', oil on canvas, by Charles Kvapil (1937). The world of art has for centuries depicted nudes in one form or another. Kvapil's wonderfully alluring versions may likely be inspired by Courbet and Cézanne. This nude appears on a chair with her back to the artist and viewer. There are plush reds, sensuous pinks and darker, patterned curtains adding atmosphere and visual texture to the painting. The artwork is in good overall condition and framed in gold with a French style slip. The frame shows some minor yet characterful signs of wear and the slip has several blemishes associated with age. The artist signed the work in the lower left hand and dated it 1937. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video may be provided.
