Mid-century French ceramic tray by Gustave Reynaud for Le Mûrier (circa 1960s). Rectangular-shaped tray (similar to a cake pan shape) with raised rim and slightly rounded ends in rustic earthenware. The base of the tray incorporates a delightful French coq motif flanked by Reynaud's stylised foliage. The rooster is in the muted, mesmerising blue hues which he often uses on his ceramics. In very good overall condition. Maker's mark on underside of tray. Please enjoy the listing's many accompanying photos. Upon request a video will be provided.

About the Artist: Gustave Reynaud (1915-1972) founded the pottery, Le Mûrier (Mulberry Tree), in Vallauris, France in 1955. He produced earthenware designed in conjunction with his well known brother-in-law, Jean Derval, as well as vases, wall plaques and anthropomorphic jugs. He also worked with the potter JF Descombes and decorator Michel Barbier in their well known village. After Reynaud's death in 1972 his wife ran the pottery until 1984.
