Decorative elongated ceramic flower vase (circa 1960s) by Pat Rowland. This mid-century ceramic flower vase is elegantly glazed in a golden brown, darker at the base and accentuated with a geometric shapes motif. The primitive, earthy texture contrasts with its elegant, extended shape. It is a stunning piece and very original. The piece is stamped on the underside with the maker's mark. Very good overall condition. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided.

About the Artist: Pat Rowland, born in Leeds in Yorkshire, England, studied Fine Arts while discovering Paris in the company of Hubert Givenchy, the brother of the famous couturier. Later, she joined the Royal College of Art in London where she met Joe Rowland, who would become her husband and partner in the pottery. In 1965 the couple bought an old farmhouse in Oms, in Southeastern France. They felt at ease there and in harmony with the wild beauty of the place becoming the most Catalan of the British residents. Pat's work impresses with the diversity of shapes and materials used demonstrating the mastery of an artist who has reached the peak of her art. She alternates between refined figuration and the abstract. Her works are immediately recognisable among a thousand pieces. The style is a sort of osmosis between spirit and matter, shrouded in elegance. She draws her inspiration from her environment, the beauty of nature and the human body.
