Carved wooden ancestor sculpture with rattan-covered body from Kalimantan (Borneo), (circa 1960s), on a contemporary stand. The elegant rattan body is topped by two female figures, back-to-back. One of them appears pregnant. It is possible the figures reference original ancestors or, coupled figures can also refer to siblings and twins (ref: Indonesian Tribal Art, Bruce W. Carpenter, 2015). The piece is in good vintage condition commensurate with age. Upon request a video of the piece can be provided.
