'Church Interior', oil on board, by Jean-Charles Contel (circa 1920s). The artist has exquisitely captured the church's aura and character in his depiction of the cold stone floors, the ancient columns and arches as well as the railings of this wonderful French Catholic church. Standing in front of this painting, the viewer can just about smell the incense whose smoke is interpreted as a symbol of the prayer of the faithful rising to heaven. All of that included in the price of this breathtaking work of art. The piece is in good overall condition having recently undergone a thorough cleaning by an art restoration professional. It is newly framed with a French-style linen slip and signed by the artist in the upper left hand. Upon request a video may be provided.
