Mid-century decorative fruit bowl by Albert and Pyot Thiry (circa 1960s). A gentle green glaze encircles the exterior of the bowl along with meandering curvy lines incised into the surface. The interior of the piece is decorated with a stunning, large blue flower and its leaves over a glossy whitish grey glaze. Both visually appealing and tactile, the piece would make an excellent addition to your home or workspace. In good vintage condition commensurate with age. Signed: 'Thiry' on base of dish.

About the Artist: Albert Thiry (1932 - 2009) was born in Nice, France. His family moved to Vallauris where he spent most of the school holidays in the potteries; in 1956 he was taken on as an assistant decorator with an opportunity to make his own pieces. Albert and his wife, Pyot, set up their own pottery in 1961. Their standard production, in Vallauris clay with added grog to emphasise rusticity, resulted in delightful pieces both highly elaborate and utilitarian.
