Vintage French Ceramic Decorative Pitcher by Jacques Blin (circa 1950s)
SKU 2247
Vintage French ceramic decorative pitcher / vase (circa 1950s) by Jacques Blin. The vase is in a subtle magenta hue covered in Blin's trademark misty glaze. It is decorated with several incised birds of various types around the main body. This adds a tactile element to the piece just as important as the stunning visuals. It is so creative in a much sought-after style and becoming more difficult to acquire. Presently in good overall condition after a very effective restoration to the handle. It has been priced accordingly. Signed: 'J. Blin' on the underside along with 'Exampl 154'. This ostensibly refers to the model number of the piece. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided.
About the Artist: Jacques Blin (1920-1995) gave up a career in engineering for his love of the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently depicted fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures and abstract motifs in his works which are always signed "J. Blin".
