An artist known for his exquisite drawings - many are sketches for his larger oil paintings or other works - this piece is compelling because the artist achieves mood and depth from his use of charcoal with the pencil. The graceful lines and curves remain present in this sketch. Its beauty lies in its simplicity. This work is in fair vintage condition showing age-related blemishes and marks which impart its vintage character. Given its 100 years, it is still notable for its state of preservation on paper. Although the artwork is unsigned, our gallery holds virtually the entire remaining collection of this artist's sketches and memorabilia and therefore, its provenance is impeccable.
