'Provençal House in Menton, France' by R. de Lamy (1937)

The pale blue of the skies and shutters tells you immediately you are in the South of France, transported by this painting (1937) to an elegant Provençal style home in the town of Menton. It is summertime, the blue volets are open and a slight Mediterranean breeze cools the palm tree-lined path to the house. We don't know if this is the artist's home (de Lamy) or simply a subject that he couldn't resist. We couldn't resist its charms either in its aged but graceful original frame.

Oil on board. Signed <<de Lamy>> in lower left hand corner. The back of the painting, now covered by conservation board, shows writing in the artist's own hand: <<Menton Fevrier 1937 R. de Lamy>>. In excellent vintage condition. Original frame, new mount and non-reflecting glass.
