Decorative jewellery box with enamel lid and flower motif by Mithé Espelt (circa 1960s). Stylised pink and white highlighted leaves outlined in gold-coloured craquelure cover the rectangular-shaped decorative box. It is at once a visually stunning decorative object and practical wooden storage box with felt bottom. In an art deco style, the piece is in good vintage condition commensurate with age. Please view the many accompanying photos with this listing to assess the aesthetics and condition of the piece. Upon request, a brief video can be provided.

About the artist: Mithé Espelt is reknowned for her production of ceramic mirrors of remarkable originality and often mistakenly confused with those of François Lembo. The Mithé Espelt workshop was in Lunel, France near Montpellier. The atelier mastered the technical challenges of using gold and enamel for their signature style mirrors and elegant boxes which were often encrusted with crystals and vibrant stones. Today, her daughter, Marion DeCrecy, continues the family tradition making contemporary versions of her parents' designs as well as new original motifs.
