This gallery has acquired a number of paintings through an intermediary of an ageing art professor from the Istituto di Arte di Porta Romana, Florence, Italy. The professor released works of artists whom he mentored over the years. We are unsure who painted the series we acquired as several are signed, 'Giacomo', 'G', or, left completely unsigned, or occasionally, signed or initialed by another artist, yet many are clearly by the same hand or under the mentorship of the same art professor. This painting is in good overall condition. The work is newly framed with a linen slip and is signed by an artist unknown, in the lower left hand. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying the listing. Upon request a video will be provided.

Dimensions with frame:

H 44 cm / 17.3"

W 37.5 cm / 14.8"

Dimensions without frame:

H 30.7 cm / 12.1"

W 24.5 cm / 9.6"

About the Istituto d'Arte di Porta Romana: On 1 November 1924, in the presence of King Vittorio Emanuele III and Queen Elena of Savoy, the new headquarters of the Royal Institute of Art of Porta Romana was inaugurated. The school has served as a valuable training venue for the aristocracy and artisan elite, comprised of teachers, heads of schools of art, and renown artists. It has also served as a teaching model and the first stage in the development of many Italian artists of the twentieth century. Many artists, decorators, architects and designers, including those of fashion and costumes, who studied and taught in the old School of Decorative Arts in Santa Croce, or, in later years, the State Art Institute of Porta Romana, include the designer Enrico Coveri, the director Franco Zeffirelli, as well as the costume designers Anna Anni and Gabriella Pescucci, Oscar winners in 1994 for the film The Age of Innocence (ref: Florence Inferno).
