Decorative vintage ceramic pot with lid by Michel Barbier (circa 1960s). This utilitarian crockery pot with lid is also a stunning work of art. On the shiny exterior is a stylised bird with plant motifs framed in Barbier's trademark, inviting Provencal hues. The lid is similarly coloured with a circular form and clover motif. There is a handle on each side. Utterly charming and delightfully rustic, this piece will be the centre of conversation for those lucky enough to have it in their view. In good overall condition. Maker's mark in the form of Barbier's stylised bird appears on the underside of the ceramic. Please enjoy the accompanying photos to this listing. Upon request, a video will be provided.

About the Artist: Michel Barbier (1933-2012), was ceramic decorator in Vallauris, France, for Gustave Reynaud's Le Mûrier, along with Jean Derval, Reynaud's brother-in-law who designed production models. Barbier's pieces sported stylised birds and foliage which were the most common themes both for utilitarian and for exhibition pieces in which abstract motifs were also employed.
