Lamp and original rattan cover and shade by Jacques Blin (1920-1995), an engineer by trade but with a love for the visual arts. Blin has an immediately recognisable style characterised by a more or less misty appearance of the glaze and by decoration deeply marked in the raw clay, a method he used throughout his career. He frequently depicted fanciful birds, primitive animals, stylised figures, plant life and whimsical abstract motifs in his works. This beautifully rust-coloured French lamp (c. 1950s) with sgraffito-etched leaves and branches is in excellent condition and highly collectible. The original rattan cane covers a carton inner shade making this a very unique and rare style of mid-century French lighting. Signed 'J. Blin'.
