'Seated Cubist Nude', oil on board, by artist with the initials, T.R. (circa 1940s - 1960s). One of the finest works from the 'School of Berlin' series, this breathtaking painting makes an immediate impact on the viewer. It is a visually stunning cubist composition depicting an androgynous nude woman sitting in quiet contemplation. The artist uses flesh tones to underpin the colour arrangement which are reinforced by hues of blue, red, orange and yellow. The colours are given meaning by the lines, angles and interlocking planes of this splendid cubist work. Clearly this dramatic piece was inspired by Picasso's early cubist style. Regrettably, nothing is  known of this artist, T.R., other than he/she lived in Berlin in the period just after WWII. The relative obscurity of the artist does not detract from the quality of the work; it is a 'coup de cœur' - love at first sight - and the centre of attention all at once. The work is in excellent vintage condition and has been newly framed with linen slip. Initialed: 'TR' in lower lefthand corner. A short video clip of this work may be provided upon request.
