'Muscles, Muscles and More Muscles', ink on art paper, by René Bolliger (circa 1960s). The Swiss Tom of Finland, René Bolliger created gay erotica confidently and unapologetically given the era in which he lived. This ink drawing depicts three nude young men clearly enjoying each other's company. Their toned bodies and youthful energy on full display for an otherwise discreet 1960s audience. In very good vintage condition. Signed in the lower right hand corner: 'René Bolliger'. Newly framed and glazed. Upon request, a video clip of this work may be provided.

About the Artist: René Bolliger (1911 - 1977) was born in Basel, Switzerland. Known for his illustrations for erotic books - some of which were published - others of which were kept secret - from the 1940s to the 1970s, his drawings were highly explicit views of homosexual liaisons offered covertly to a circle of connoisseurs, censorship prohibiting their sale through normal commercial channels until the 1950s. Bolliger's works frequently appear at auction, are highly collectible and form part of an important niche in the area of gay erotica.
