Ceramic oval hand mirror by Mithé Espelt (circa 1960s). A diminutive, elegant work of decorative art partially covered in gold crackle ceramic glaze complemented by a rich blue. Inlaid within geometric shapes in the blue enamel and outlined in the gold crackle are crystal-like stones in light blue and white. Absolutely stunning. This piece is a perfect vintage accompaniment to a vanity or dressing table. In very good vintage condition commensurate with age and usage. The overall charm and its personality are undeniable. There is a small hanging attachment for placement on a wall. Upon request, a video of the piece will be provided.

About the artist: Mithé Espelt is reknowned for her production of ceramic mirrors of remarkable originality and often mistakenly confused with those of François Lembo. The Mithé Espelt workshop was in Lunel, France near Montpellier. The atelier mastered the technical challenges of using gold and enamel for their signature style mirrors and elegant boxes which were often encrusted with crystals and vibrant stones. Today, her daughter, Marion DeCrecy, continues the family tradition making contemporary versions of her parents' designs as well as new original motifs.
