Ask a Question

Mid-century ceramic angel with amphorae (c. 1950s). This beguiling ceramic piece was discovered in the south of France. Probably should be attributed to one of the Vallauris ceramicists, it is simply marked 'R' on the inner base of the figure. Several ceramic experts from France have misidentified this piece with those of Jean Derval. What a complement! With halo, wings and an angelic face, the figure holds two large pottery pieces seemingly as an offering to the viewer. Its charm and quality are undeniable making this original work extremely collectible. In excellent vintage condition commensurate with its age.
