Decorative French Vintage Ceramic Bowl by Michel Barbier (circa 1960s)
SKU 1121A
Decorative vintage ceramic bowl by Michel Barbier (circa 1960s), Vallauris, France. A shallow bowl with a stylised sunflower and face in profile at the base is sure to bring a smile to the viewer. A subtle jade-green colours the edge with a dark brown ring just below providing visual depth to the piece. It's delightfully 1960s with oodles of charm. In very good condition. Upon request a video of the piece may be provided. Barbier's signature minimalist 'oiseau' or bird, marks the base of the bowl.
About the Artist: Michel Barbier (1933-2012), was ceramic decorator in Vallauris, France, for Gustave Reynaud's Le Mûrier, along with Jean Derval, Reynaud's brother-in-law who designed production models. Barbier's pieces sported stylised birds and foliage which were the most common themes both for utilitarian and for exhibition pieces in which abstract motifs were also employed.
