'Portrait of Reclining Woman', oil on board, by artist with the initials STM (c. 1950s). A magnificent cubist depiction, this is a portrait of a shapely young woman in muted hues. There are just lines and beautiful colours. Painted primarily in earthy shades of brown and red with amber and golden clay playfully harmonious and offset by just a touch of blue and grey. Surely inspired by Pablo Picasso, the artist, STM, lived in Berlin in the period after WWII. Several galleries have acquired and are now selling STM'S works - this speaks to the widespread assessment of the quality and interest of the art. This piece is in excellent vintage condition in a new frame with gold surround. Initialed, 'STM' in lower right hand corner. A short video clip of this work may be provided upon request.
